The challenge

The Tresfjord bridge between the peninsulas of Vestnes and Vikebukt in Norway was built in 2015. The main bridge consists of a concrete box girders with arch spans of even 160 meters long, which are fixed on concrete pillars of about 40 meters high. The bridge and shore connections are about two kilometers long. The route of the E136 has been shortened by 13 kilometers due to the construction of the new bridge and a new tunnel construction near Alesund. The shorter route is saving a lot of transportation costs and emissions.

Our contribution

Walhout Civil has been contracted by a offshore contractor for the tendering of the transportation and installation of the concrete pillars. Drawings and various calculations have been worked out for the tender, including calculations for the buoyancy, stability, equilibrium of the structures and the necessary tow draft of the tugs.
